Paris City Hall is considering fan zones for France’s World Cup games from the quarter-finals, with the plan under review. Speaking on RTL-Public Sénat’s Grand Jury, Emmanuel Grégoire said the city is working on it.

He added that kick-off times should no longer be the main hurdle. France face Morocco at 22:00 on Thursday, while any semi-final and final would start at 21:00 in France.

For the national team’s matches from the last eight, City Hall is working with the police prefecture on an expanded set-up to welcome fans.

Grégoire ruled out a single giant open-air fan zone for 100,000 to 150,000 people, calling such a gathering unsuitable in the heat. The city is prioritising other options.

He also noted that these arrangements are extremely costly, while still aiming to let Parisians celebrate together.
