Paris prosecutor ‘opens preliminary probe’ into Nasser Al-Khelaïfi over Ligue 1 TV rights | OneFootball

L'Équipe reports that the Paris prosecutor has opened a preliminary investigation into Paris Saint-Germain and beIN Sports chief Nasser Al-Khelaïfi for alleged unlawful taking of interest, with the anti-corruption financial brigade assigned to the case.

The case follows a complaint from Anticor over the Ligue 1 TV rights process in summer 2024. Al-Khelaïfi, who also heads beIN Media France, is suspected of trying to sway the LFP board in favour of a company he leads.

At the time, LFP president Vincent Labrune weighed two routes, launching a dedicated league channel, or striking a shared deal with DAZN and beIN Sports, eight matches on the former and one on the latter.

After heated discussions, the second option was adopted. The agreement with DAZN did not last beyond the first season, prompting French football chiefs to green-light Ligue1+, which now holds exclusive top-flight rights.

Al-Khelaïfi’s camp maintains the Anticor complaint is absurd. His multiple roles, flagged in a recent Senate report, were cited amid the new Sport law passed this summer and due to take effect in the coming months.

The Qatari executive remains the subject of several judicial inquiries, including one concerning undeclared work.
