Patrick Bamford drew comparisons with Dennis Bergkamp after a spectacular brace for Sheffield United at Wrexham, extending his bright start with the Blades. The former Leeds United striker is enjoying a revival since signing a short-term deal.

According to Leedsunited.news, supporters on X likened him to a string of greats. In North Wales he opened the scoring and went on to net twice. He has three goals in his first seven appearances for the club.

With his back to goal, he took a pass in the box, twisted and guided the ball into the top corner with the outside of his foot.

Fans also drew parallels with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud and Robin van Persie, while others simply hailed the finish as pure quality.

Bamford had been a favourite at Elland Road and was central to Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion side. He left in the summer, Leeds releasing him from the remainder of a contract that had 12 months to run after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Daniel Farke. After months without a club, he moved to Sheffield United looking to rebuild his career.

His exit currently appears to suit both parties, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring freely at Elland Road, though Bamford’s streak may be raising eyebrows in West Yorkshire. With Lukas Nmecha injured and Joel Piroe struggling for minutes, Farke could find himself short up front if Calvert-Lewin suffers a setback, and Leeds may yet miss Bamford’s experience and finishing.
