Patrick Beach is expected to join Troyes from Melbourne City on a five-year contract after his holidays, L'Est Éclair reports. The Australia goalkeeper was a surprise starter at the 2026 World Cup.
He turns 23 on six August and has six caps. Installed just before the finals ahead of Mathew Ryan, he would arrive from fellow City Football Group side Melbourne City.
Troyes have been seeking a replacement for Nicolas Lemaître, who left for Rennes this summer, and strong competition for Hillel Konaté, who started after his injury. Beach is right footed, stands 1.89m, and impressed on his World Cup bow.
The move was advanced by Brendan MacFarlane before his interim spell as sporting director ended, and is expected to be formalised by his successor Jocelyn Blanchard. Australia went out to Egypt in the round of 32 on the third of July, 1-1, 2-4 on penalties, and Beach is due to report to Troyes once his break ends.
“He is a hard worker and a determined man. He was extremely professional even before he was first choice, coming in on days off, going to the gym, ice baths and treatment,” said Sander Krabbendam, his goalkeeping coach at Melbourne City, speaking to Football360. That is a routine he is expected to take with him to France.
