Pau Cubarsí admits he ‘can imagine’ playing with Spain star at Barcelona | OneFootball

Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has this weekend dropped something of a hint regarding a potential joining of forces with Aymeric Laporte at club level.

This of course comes with the pair having struck up nothing short of a spectacular partnership on the international stage.

En route to Spain booking their spot in Sunday’s World Cup final, Cubarsí and Laporte have featured from the off in all seven of the country’s fixtures.

And along the way, the pair have seen just a solitary goal make its way past them and into the Spanish net.

Such ongoing excellence gave rise to speculation in the media this week that Barcelona could launch a surprise move for Laporte’s signature, to pair the experienced stopper with their own defensive prodigy.

And drawn on such a possibility during an exchange with the media on Saturday, Cubarsí admitted that he could ‘imagine’ sharing the pitch with Laporte at the Camp Nou.

Speaking to Catalan outlet TV3, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, the 19-year-old explained:

“The World Cup was the first major tournament where we started together. I’ve felt very comfortable. We’ve both felt very comfortable. We help each other, we give each other confidence, and we make ourselves strong so that we concede as few goals as possible. We’re doing well. I’ve already been told that I look like Iñigo (Martínez). They’re both Basque, they both play on the left, they have a very similar style, they both have character. I’ve played with him (Laporte) here, so I can imagine him playing with me (at Barcelona).”
