Former Fluminense and Grêmio midfielder Paulinho Andrioli has gone viral after displaying his polyglot side in a video posted by his wife, influencer Roberta Andrioli.

In the clip, speaking in Greek, he says the languages help his football work, make travel and communication easier, and let him keep working in the sport he loves.

Posted on 1 June, the video spread quickly, drawing more than 5 million Instagram views, more than 560,000 likes, 5,500 comments and 81,000 shares.

Andrioli, 58, was born in Novo Hamburgo and now lives in Ribeirão Preto, where he works in football. He played for Fluminense, Grêmio, Blumenau and Botafogo-SP in Brazil before moving to Europe, and featured for Brazil’s under-20s at the 1987 World Cup.

In Switzerland he turned out for Lugano from 1991 to 1995, then Gallen in 1996. He moved to Greece with Ionikos and Aris from 1996 to 2000, returned to Santa Cruz, and finished at Ituano in 2001.
