Round five of the 2026 Paulistão wrapped up on Monday night at Canindé. Santos drew with Red Bull Bragantino and ended the round 10th on six points, outside the quarter-final places.
Novorizontino lead on 12 points, with Palmeiras second on the same tally. Red Bull Bragantino are third on 11, followed by Corinthians on eight and Guarani on eight. According to Diario Do Peixe, those five are exactly the sides Santos have faced so far.
Under the new format, each club plays eight matches in the first phase, the top eight qualify and the bottom two are relegated. The quarter-finals are single-leg ties, first plays eighth, second meets seventh, third faces sixth and fourth plays fifth.
The round produced 19 goals, an average of 2.37 per game. There were two home wins, four away wins and two draws.
Round five results included: São Bernardo 0-4 Mirassol, Ponte Preta 2-2 Noroeste, Palmeiras 3-1 São Paulo, Capivariano 1-2 Primavera, Novorizontino 2-0 Botafogo, Velo Clube 0-1 Corinthians and Portuguesa 0-1 Guarani.
