Vasco have a new head coach. Portuguese Pedro Emanuel arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Friday night, only hours after being unveiled, and will take his first session at CT Moacyr Barbosa on Saturday.
According to Globo.com, the 51-year-old left Al-Fayha and travelled with part of his backroom staff.
He described it as a pleasure to join a giant club with fervent support, saying he arrives with ambition, pride and commitment aligned to the culture of Vasco.
Emanuel set an immediate objective of lifting the team out of the relegation zone, stressing that he and his staff have come to help place the club where they want it to be.
Talks accelerated over the past two days and were concluded quickly. He was a free agent and had interest from other Saudi sides, but accepted after a pitch from Admar Lopes.
He said the SAF legal situation was not an obstacle and that he is excited for his first job in Brazilian football. His career began in 2011 and includes spells with Al-Nassr, Al-Khaleej, Al-Fayha, Almería, Estoril and Arouca.
Vasco have been without a coach since 18 June, when Renato Gaúcho was dismissed, with earlier talks delayed by the SAF dispute.
