Corinthians were knocked out of the Copa do Brasil by Internacional, losing 2-0 at Beira-Rio then winning 2-1 at Neo Química Arena. Fernando Diniz restored Pedro Raul to the starting line-up for the second leg, his first start since 21 May.

According to Meu Timao, his previous start came against Peñarol of Uruguay in the fifth round of the group stage, when his header was saved and Zakaria Labyad converted the rebound to equalise.

Before that, he had started only three times this year, a Copa do Brasil win over Barra in April where he provided an assist, a Brasileirão draw with Cruzeiro in February, and a defeat to Red Bull Bragantino.

This season he has played 617 minutes across 26 matches, averaging 23.7 minutes per game. Across those outings Corinthians have 10 wins, six draws and 10 defeats, with Pedro Raul on one goal and two assists.

Against Internacional he led the line in place of Yuri Alberto, sidelined with a posterior left thigh injury sustained against Athletico-PR last Thursday. He scored and registered four attempts, two on target.

With Yuri Alberto still out, Pedro Raul is among Diniz’s options for Sunday’s trip to Bragança Paulista to face Red Bull Bragantino at 18:30 in the 22nd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
