Pedro suffers right ankle sprain as Lazio advance in Coppa Italia | OneFootball

Pedro is set for a spell out after suffering a right ankle injury late in the Coppa Italia tie at Bologna. Lazio progressed on penalties after substitute Tijjani Noslin scored the equaliser.

The club said in a statement on Friday that Pedro underwent tests at Villa Mafalda Clinic. The examinations revealed a sprain-contusion trauma to his right ankle with partial involvement of the external capsular-ligament complex, following assessments by Prof. Ivo Pulcini, Prof. Fabio Rodia and club doctor Italo Leo.

The 38-year-old came off in the final minutes, clearly in pain as he was helped from the field, and received applause from the home crowd at the Renato Dall’Ara.

He has begun a tailored rehabilitation programme and will be monitored daily to determine his return. No timetable has been set.

Lazio are already without captain Mattia Zaccagni, leaving the left flank light. Tijjani Noslin is expected to fill in against Atalanta on Saturday.
