Nottingham Forest’s survival fight looks set to go to the wire, with six games left and the Reds three points above the relegation zone.
According to Nottingham Post, the run-in has tightened for several clubs. West Ham United’s 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday left them a point behind Forest.
On Sunday, Forest fought back to draw 1-1 with Aston Villa in their first league game after the international break. Tottenham, in 18th, started Roberto De Zerbi’s tenure with a 1-0 loss at Sunderland.
Leeds United then won 2-1 at Manchester United on Monday, moving six points clear of the drop.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Gary Neville said Forest and West Ham have momentum, warned Tottenham are in big trouble and added he thinks Leeds’ win secures their survival. Jamie Carragher called Leeds a breath of fresh air and said that showing would rattle rivals, noting Spurs have not matched it for about six months.
On X, Stan Collymore suggested 42 points for absolute safety, with 40 the confident mark. By his maths, Spurs need four wins from six to reach 42, or half their matches to get to 39.
Vitor Pereira demanded character as well as talent, saying Forest must be warriors and fight with responsibility to the last game.
Roberto De Zerbi said Spurs’ players are suffering and must find energy and the right spirit, stressing results come only by showing quality and fight on the pitch. Nuno Espirito Santo hailed West Ham’s spirit but said there is still work to do.
