Peter Gulacsi ‘to join’ Villarreal as first signing after goalkeeper exits | OneFootball

Villarreal are close to their first signing, with Peter Gulacsi lined up to reinforce the goalkeeping department after two departures. He would replace Arnau Tenas and work with Luiz Junior, who is expected to be first choice.

According to Fabrizio Romano, agreement is in place with the player and talks between the clubs are almost complete. The international goalkeeper remains under contract until 30 June 2027.

In recent years Villarreal have actively managed the position, moving through Jorgensen, Pepe Reina and Rulli, and turning solid value on their deals.

At 36, Gulácsi has spent 11 seasons with RB Leipzig, featuring in the Bundesliga, Champions League and Europa League. He lifted the German Cup in 2021-22 and helped the club reach the Champions League semi-finals in 19-20.

Before that, he won two league titles and two cups in two seasons at Red Bull Salzburg. A Liverpool academy graduate, he did not make a first-team debut.
