Ferencváros great Péter Lipcsei has reflected on his short but striking Porto spell, curtailed by a serious injury.
The 53-year-old spoke to O Jogo about his Porto spell and Braga’s imminent Europa League trip to Hungary.
Lipcsei first starred for Ferencváros from 1990 to 1995 before joining Porto at the height of his form, arriving on the express request of Bobby Robson.
He impressed frequently at the Antas, registering six goals and seven assists in 28 appearances, only for a serious injury to halt his progress in Portugal.
After a brief stay with Espinho, he returned to Ferencváros in 2000 and remained until 2010, amassing 649 matches and 170 goals.
That body of work made him an iconic figure for the Budapest club, placing him among its leading names, a group headed by Florian Albert.
Looking ahead, Lipcsei pointed to a spectacular atmosphere awaiting Braga when they visit in the Europa League.
