Sunderland fell to a late defeat at Villa Park in Premier League action on Sunday. Wilson Isidor had hauled them level at 3-3 before Tammy Abraham struck late for Aston Villa.
According to Sunderland Echo, goalkeeper Robin Roefs could do little about the goals. He made some strong saves, though was fortunate early on after missing a corner as Onana headed against the bar. Rated six.
Right-back Nordi Mukiele caused problems with aggressive positioning and competed typically well. He was not quite at his best on the ball. Rated six.
Centre-back Luke O'Nien faced perhaps his toughest test yet against an exceptional Ollie Watkins. He struggled to contain him and survived a few awkward moments. Rated five.
Omar Alderete was largely solid, used the ball well and made important defensive headers. He was withdrawn just after the hour and left hobbling, which might be a concern for Sunderland. Rated seven.
