Alvaro Morata has said his goodbyes to his supporters and colleagues at Milan and is now awaiting the official announcement of his transfer to Galatasaray.
The Spaniard is on the ground in Istanbul having set off from Milan earlier on Sunday morning.
He will join the Turkish giants on an initial loan deal until the end of the 2024-25 season, which is expected to be extended for a further 12 months in the summer. Recent reports claim that there will also be an obligation to buy if Morata makes a certain number of appearances during his time with Galatasaray.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to wear this shirt. Milan is an incredible club, even more so the people who work there. Thank you to everyone,” Morata wrote in a farewell message on Instagram on Sunday afternoon.
Morata’s departure is one of several components in a busy end to the January transfer window for Milan.
He is set to be replaced by Santiago Gimenez, who has undergone a medical in Italy on Sunday. There are also ongoing rumours of a possible swoop for Chelsea’s Joao Felix, although the Rossoneri also face competition from Premier League outfit Aston Villa.
