Talks intensify for a romantic homecoming of the Gabonese striker to the Vélodrome.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be set for a return to Olympique de Marseille after just a season away. The Gabon international is currently negotiating his exit from Al-Qadsiah, and Marseille’s management reportedly have moved swiftly to bring him back to the Vélodrome.
A year after his departure to Al-Qadsiah, the 36-year-old striker has caught the eye of several clubs across Europe and beyond. Among them, OM appear to have taken a decisive lead by opening concrete talks with the player. With mutual interest, the Gabonese star is said to be tempted by a Ligue 1 comeback. According to available information, negotiations between Marseille’s top brass and Aubameyang’s entourage are progressing rapidly. The two sides are believed to have already agreed on the framework of a two-year contract.
Before this reunion can be sealed, several hurdles remain. The former Chelsea striker must first officially terminate his contract with Al-Qadsiah before he can commit elsewhere. A significant reduction in his wage demands will also be required for the deal to go through.
Nevertheless, the prospect of Aubameyang’s return to Marseille is generating huge excitement among the fans. During his previous spell, Aubameyang left a lasting impression, both with his performances and his attitude. He tallied 30 goals and 11 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
