The Gabon international will not be joining Marseille on their pre-season tour, leaving the club’s training ground this afternoon. The reason is now clear, the former Arsenal, Chelsea, and Dortmund striker is set to join newly-promoted La Liga side Deportivo. Yet less than an hour before he departed Marseille’s training ground, new OM manager said he wanted to keep key players, but was conscious of the club’s financial reality. “When you have good players you want to keep them, but afterwards there is also the contextual reality, before I signed I knew what would happen, that we would need to sell players,” Génésio said during his press conference attended by Get French Football News. “We could see players leave that I wanted to keep.
