Flamengo will give Plata and Erick Pulgar late fitness tests on Wednesday before the Libertadores tie against Estudiantes.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the session at CT Ninho do Urubu, held only hours before kick-off, will decide whether Leonardo Jardim can include the forward and the midfielder.
Plata has not featured since a collision against Grêmio left him with trauma to his left knee, though there is no injury to the area.
Pulgar’s situation is more delicate. He has been out longer and last played on the second of April against Red Bull Bragantino in the Brasileirão, when he injured his right shoulder. He has completed his recovery and is back training with the squad, which raises hopes of a return for the number five.
While Plata and Pulgar remain doubts, Lucas Paquetá is in contention after a heavy challenge to his leg against Athletico-PR. De La Cruz returns after missing out because of the synthetic surface at Arena da Baixada.
Kick-off is at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
