Man City’s Premier League pursuit ended in frustration at Bournemouth, where a 1-1 draw handed Arsenal the title and left Pep Guardiola’s farewell league campaign in ruins.
City arrived needing victory, yet Bournemouth played with greater bite, sharper energy and clearer intent. Eli Junior Kroupi’s superb first-half strike punished a hesitant defence, with City looking strangely flat after their FA Cup final exertions.
Erling Haaland remained City’s clearest threat. He created chances, bullied space and finally struck in injury time after a scramble in the Bournemouth box. It was a ruthless finish, yet too late to rescue the title race.
Rodri hit the post before the equaliser and Gigi Donnarumma made key saves, sparing City from a more damaging defeat. Bournemouth, wasteful in front of goal, will know they had the chances to win.
Guardiola’s changes failed to shift momentum. Mateo Kovacic, Bernardo Silva and Antoine Semenyo were withdrawn early in the second half, with Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden and Savinho unable to alter the rhythm.
For Man City, this was a night of fatigue, looseness and missed control. For Bournemouth, it was proof of their capacity to unsettle elite opponents. Dean Court witnessed the end of City’s title dream, and possibly the closing chapter of Guardiola’s Premier League dominance.
