Despite a 12-match unbeaten streak, Inter Miami fails to win at home once again, losing 4-3 to rivals Orlando City in dramatic fashion.

What started as a dream quickly turned into a nightmare as Miami initially had control of the game through the 33rd minute. Goals from Ian Fray, Telasco Segovia, and Lionel Messi put the Herons ahead by three in under 40 minutes.

However, Orlando would quickly come roaring back due to a series of unfortunate events put on by Miami’s defense and midfield.

Three goals by Martin Ojeda and the game-winner by Tyrese Spicer in the 93rd minute sealed off what was a catastrophic performance by the men in pink.

With a chance to bounce back against Toronto FC next Saturday, the Herons have to put this result behind them, lest it haunt them for the rest of the season.

Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s brutal 4-3 loss to Orlando City.

*I’ll rate every player on a scale of 1 to 10, with 5-6 being average/below average. For the substitutes, I’ll judge accordingly. *

Goalkeeping/Defense:

Dayne St. Clair - 6.2: Had a couple of solid stops throughout the match, and while I don’t think some of these goals were his fault, the blame will inevitably fall on the goalkeeper.

Noah Allen 6.3: Wasn’t the main issue with Miami’s defensive line in the match, but “one band, one sound,” eh.

Micael - 6: Like his center back partner, while the steadiest of the pair, unfortunately, Orlando’s late-game comeback looked bad for everyone.

Maxi Falcon - 5: The worst he’s looked, so far, in an Inter Miami kit, especially as the game went on and Orlando got the game-winner.

Ian Fray -  6.9: Arguably, Miami’s best defender throughout the match. While Facundo Mura is a perfectly acceptable attacking full-back, Fray provides the defensive security that was much-needed as the game went on.

Midfield

Telasco Segovia - 7.7: Got a goal and an assist, but his performance was overshadowed by Miami’s defensive collapse.

Rodrigo De Paul - 6: The World Cup winner has to get better if Miami wants to win anything meaningful this season. While he’s covering a lot of ground and has the metronomic quality to be the eight Miami needs, there have been one too many sloppy mistakes for a player who’s on a Designated Player contract. Still, perhaps this is just a rough patch, and he’ll get through it eventually.

Yannick Bright - 7: Was everywhere on the pitch and had multiple good progressive passing sequences! Pleased to see him back from suspension.

Attack

Luis Suarez - 7.3: I mentioned this on X/Twitter, but Miami’s attack looked much more cohesive with him on the pitch. His absence was noticeable when he came off.

Lionel Messi - 8: Well, he tried, lol. Couldn’t do much more when his midfield and defense let him down.

German Berterame - 6.7: Ran his legs off and maybe had a couple of chances that he could’ve put away.

Substitutes:

Facundo Mura - 6: Provided some decent runs late in the match, but couldn’t quite help Miami get the game or equalizer.

Tadeo Allende - 6: Like Mura, he had a couple of good runs during his time on the pitch, but didn’t quite get into a good enough rhythm.
