Paris Saint-Germain cruised past Unai Emery's Aston Villa 3-1 in the first-leg of their Champions League quarterfinal at the Parc des Princes.
Despite a strong start, Paris saw the visitors take the lead completely against the run of play when Morgan Rogers fired his side on top just after 30 minutes. Though, Luis Enrique's side reacted quickly and levelled the score through Désiré Doué. Three minutes into the second half, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put his side 2-1 up after a wonderful move, leaving Disasi in the dust. As the game neared its ending, Nuno Mendes scored Paris' third goal and sealed a probant win for the hosts.
The Italian goalkeeper did not have much to do against Villa and couldn't do much on Rogers' goal that opened the score.
The right-back put up a great performance against Villa, whether it was offensively or defensively.
Solid game from Pacho, he did not have much to do in this game but his partnership with Beraldo proved to be reliable.
Solid outing for the Brazilian.
The left-back had a fantastic game tonight. He proved very solid defensively against Rogers and created many chances for his side on the offensive end. Though his involvement in Villa's goal is problematic, his goal that sealed the win for Paris will help forget his previous mistake.
As always, Vitinha had a great game in Paris' midfield, the Portuguese is the one setting the tone and dictate the pace of the game for his team.
Good performance from the Portuguese midfielder that contributed greatly to his team's victory.
The Spaniard has put up a solid performance once again for Paris. In a game largely dominated by his side, he contributed greatly in ball possesion, while cutting many counter-attacking chances from the visitors.
The Georgian put up a stellar performance tonight. He was a constant danger for Villa and could have scored many more goals. He constantly had the upper hand against his defenders, moreover, his work rate were once again impressive. His goal gave the lead to his side after a wonderful solo effort.
Désiré Doué put up an amazing performance against Villa. The young french player has clearly reached a new level and is becoming an important player in Luis Enrique’s team. His wonderful strike left no chance to Martinez and tied the game in a crucial moment. He then dominated his various match-ups and created numerous opportunities to score for his side.
It was probably his most difficult outing in the Champions League since January. Though it was not bad, the Frenchman struggled to create danger and make differences against his direct opponents. However, he delivered a great assist to Nuno Mendes on the third goal of his side.
