Orbit College head coach Pogiso Makhoye has opened up on juggling between his job as an IT manager at the college and coaching the newly promoted side in the South African topflight division.

The Mswenko Boys gained promotion to the Betway Premiership by virtue of winning the PSL Promotion/Relegation playoffs, pipping then-fellow Motsepe Foundation Championship club Casric Stars and Cape Town City to a spot in the elite league.

Orbit have won one of their opening four matches in the league, courtesy of a hard fought 1-0 victory over newly rebranded Siwelele FC. Now, the Northwest-based outfit is on a two-game losing streak as they lost a total of three league outings thus far.

Makhoye’s men are currently in 14th-place in the Betway Premiership standings, having conceded five goals and scored one. While many believe doing the day job simultaneously as leading Orbit in the dugout is a mountain to climb, the CAF A License holder is adamant it’s doable.

“I’m still doing it [juggling the two jobs] because I’m still the IT manager and I’m here coaching. The team is also performing well, so there are no distractions, they understand because they know if it’s time for me to go to the ground I’m there,” Makhoye said.

While he assured his 9 to 5 job doesn’t cause any distractions on managing the PSL franchise, Makhoye says his coaching job equally doesn’t affect his duties at the college, stating that he has a team capable of steering the ship in his absence.

“And I have a capable team also in the IT fields where if I’m not there, they can do what I can do if I’m not there. But every time when I’m there, I’m doing my job,” the Orbit tactician added.

The rookies will be determined to get back to winning ways when they host established TS Galaxy in their fifth Betway Premiership match of the campaign under the lights of Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.
