Piotr Zielinski came off the bench to help Inter Milan hold onto a slender 1-0 win in a precious UEFA Champions League win at Sparta Prague.
Speaking to Inter TV after the game via FCInterNews, the 30-year-old analyzed Inter’s performance at the Epet Arena.
At long last, Lautaro Martinez is truly back.
El Toro’s winning goal was his 14th for Inter in the Champions League.
Therefore, he drew level with Adriano as the club’s joint-top scorer in Europe’s most prestigious cup competition.
More importantly, Martinez’s third consecutive scoring appearance handed the Nerazzurri a crucial win.
Indeed, a point against Monaco on the final matchday will be enough to propel Simone Inzaghi’s side into the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, Zielinski had to settle for another substitute appearance.
However, he fared well since coming on midway through the second half to help Inter take home three points.
“It was a match dominated by Inter,” Zielinski said. “Everyone knows that when a game stays at 1-0, there’s always the risk of conceding an equalizer.
“But fortunately, that didn’t happen. We’re satisfied. Our strength lies in managing the moments when we don’t have possession.
“We suffered, but the victory we all wanted is very important for our standings.”
Zielinski played slightly out of position as he replaced Kristjan Asllani, assuming the role of a deep-lying playmaker.
However, he’s happy with his showing.
“I think I did well, and I’m happy,” he admitted.
“Everyone who came on contributed, and we’re satisfied with what we achieved, especially the three points.”
Zielinski also urged Inter not to get ahead of themselves.
“We all knew tonight’s game was crucial for the standings,” he continued.
“We’re in good shape, but there’s still one match left where we need to confirm ourselves and win.
“That way, we’ll be completely calm and sure of being in the top eight, and we can also get some rest.”
