Earlier in January, Real Madrid’s post-Xabi Alonso era started in the worst possible way as they lost 3-2 to Albacete.
The result knocked Los Blancos out of the Copa Del Rey, marking an end to a week that had also seen them losing the Spanish Super Cup to Barcelona and the ouster of Xabi Alonso.
It was an even more frustrating week for Vinicius Jr., who once again found himself on the receiving end of a racist attack committed by an opposition fan.
Indeed, during the game, a spectator threw a banana peel at the Real Madrid forward, who has been the focal point of the whole racism in football debate in Spain for the past few years.
But in slightly positive news, AS reports that the National Police have identified the spectator who threw a banana peel at Vinicius Jr. during that match at the Carlos Belmonte stadium.

The act, which occurred during active play, was immediately classified by authorities as a clear sign of racism against the Brazilian forward.
The individual has been proposed for an administrative sanction under Law 19/2007 against violence, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in sport.
This legislation carries heavy financial penalties ranging from €150 to €650,000, depending on the severity of the infraction as determined by the competent authorities.
The identification comes after Albacete requested public cooperation and imagery to help clarify the responsibility for the act.
Beyond legal penalties, the club have taken a firm stance to protect the integrity of the sport. In an official statement, Albacete declared they would take all disciplinary measures within their power to ensure the responsible party “never sets foot in the Carlos Belmonte stadium again”.
