Polícia Civil investigates alleged rape of four-year-old at Palmeiras social club | OneFootball

The Polícia Civil has opened an investigation into the alleged rape of a vulnerable child, aged four, said to have taken place inside Palmeiras’ social club in Perdizes on Wednesday 10.

The incident is said to have happened in a men’s bathroom. Around 16:30 the girl briefly went missing, then returned saying it was a secret and describing an older man she called grandad, who had called her to the men’s area and offered her popcorn.

Later that evening, the mother realised the child might have been assaulted and they returned to the club so the girl could undergo examinations.

The club said in a statement that a suspect, an associate member, was immediately suspended at the request of president Leila Pereira, and that if his involvement is proven he will be expelled in addition to any other applicable sanctions.

Palmeiras added that CCTV footage had been collected and provided to the authorities, and that support was offered to the mother and child after the episode.
