According to Globo.com, a Quaest poll shows Brazilians divided on Neymar’s continued selection for the Brazil national team, with 47% in favour and 45% against.
With a 2 percentage point margin of error, the result amounts to a technical tie. A further 8% did not know or did not answer whether he should keep being selected.
Neymar has said he wants to return to the national team and play at the World Cup, while stressing the decision is not his.
The last time Quaest asked the question, in October 2023, 48% backed his inclusion and 39% opposed it.
Regional splits varied. The Northeast recorded the highest support at 49% against 45% negative, followed by the Southeast at 48%, then Centre-West and North at 46%.
The South had the greatest resistance, with 53% opposed and 40% in favour.
Conducted from 10 to 13 April, the survey interviewed 2,004 Brazilians aged 16 or over across 120 municipalities, using face-to-face structured questionnaires. It carried a 95% confidence level and followed Brazil’s final matches before the World Cup squad announcement on 18 May.
