Porto and Benfica cry foul, accuse Sporting of refereeing favouritism | OneFootball

Sporting beat Santa Clara 4-2 on Friday, prompting Porto and Benfica to allege Sporting benefited from refereeing.

According to L'Équipe, both rivals posted multiple clips on X suggesting Rui Borges's players received favourable calls, with five or six contentious incidents cited. Benfica said there was no shame left.

The victory moved Sporting within four points of leaders Porto and three clear of Benfica.

Porto, top of the league, also tweeted, highlighting a coming together in the penalty area of their nearest challengers.

The dispute comes amid claims that numerous decisions have gone Sporting’s way since the start of the season. Sporting now turn to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
