Portuguese league leaders FC Porto suffered a surprise away to Casa Pia on Monday night to finally suffer a defeat in the Primeira Liga after 20 games played.
Francesco Farioli's side looked like they were going to run away with the title this season but a 2-1 defeat on the road has means that the gap at the top could be reduced to just a single point should Sporting defeat Porto in the big derby on Monday.
The result also means that there is one fewer undefeated side in European football although two have one strong connection between.
José Mourinho started the season at Fenerbahçe before his dismissal saw him return to Benfica earlier this season. Remarkably, both sides remain undefeated with the exact same record: 20 games played, 13 wins, seven draws, and, of course, no defeats.
But while Fenerbahçe's undefeated streak sees them second in the Turkish Süper Lig, three points behind leaders Galatasaray, Benfica are further adrift. The Eagles tendency to draw games (like a 0-0 away to Tondela on Sunday) sees them in third, five points behind second-place Sporting and nine behind leaders Porto.
That record of 13 wins and seven draws does work splendidly for one team in Europe though. Slavia Praha are top of the Czech First League, five points clear of local rivals Sparta Praha.
Outside of those leagues finding undefeated sides is tougher. Vardar are currently top of the North Macedonian top flight by just a single point after winning 13 and drawing three of 16 fixtures until now.
Beyond that you have to go to the Belgian second tier to find a team yet to taste defeat in the league. Sportkring Beveren look set to earn promotion to the Pro League sitting nine points clear at the top of the table after 18 wins and three draws in 21 games.
