It is not often that a player of Bernardo Silva’s quality is available on the transfer market as a free agent, and it is unsurprising that multiple clubs are lining up to sign him.
The player’s desire, as rumours have widely confirmed, is to play for Barcelona and even the club are interested in making the move happen.
Hansi Flick’s approval was the one pending box to be checked, and with that out of the way as well, everything is on track for Barcelona to land the veteran. Word has it that they are just waiting for a player sale to announce his signing.
Speaking to the media via Mundo Deportivo in a recent interview, Portugal national team manager Roberto Martinez was asked about Bernardo Silva’s quality and future, especially the links with Barcelona.

When specifically quizzed on the option of Silva moving to Barcelona and whether he saw it as a good move for both parties involved, Martinez had no doubts that the player would fit right in.
“It seems to me that Bernardo Silva is such a spectacular player that he can enter any dressing room in world football,” he began.
“It think that a player like that does not come often for free, but he is a player who can adjust to any system and any style, and improve to what he has around him,” he added on his adaptability.
Finally, the coach praised his in-game awareness and understanding of positioning, passing, and timing.
“It’s not the position, it’s the football intelligence he has, and then the technical level that allows him to dominate all the actions in which he participates. I have no doubt,” he concluded.
While Barcelona initially seemed the only solid option Silva was considering for his future, it now appears that other parties have entered the race and his future is no longer as clear.

The Catalans are indeed still the favourites, but Jose Mourinho is said to have specifically asked for Silva’s signing which adds a major competitor to Barcelona’s bid to sign the player.
Further, Atletico Madrid are also in the race and pushing hard to convince the player of Diego Simeone. At this point, however, they stand the furthest away from making anything happen.
