Posch and Como intensify talks for sale to Mainz 05 | OneFootball

Multiple sources confirm Como are in advanced talks to sell defender Stefan Posch to Mainz 05 following his recent loan experience.

The Austria international defender has been on the Como books since 2025, first on loan and then purchased outright from Bologna for a total fee of €6m.

However, he was then sent out on loan to Mainz in January 2026, where he made 20 competitive appearances, also scoring two goals for the Germans.

Both Florian Plettenburg of Sky Sports Deutschland and Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà are confident that a deal should be reached to make the move to Mainz permanent over the next 24 hours.

Intensive talks are taking place to get an agreement over the line, as Mainz are determined to lock Posch down.

His current contract with Como runs to June 2029, but he only made 15 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

The 29-year-old was in the Austria squad at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
