Prados available for Athletic’s run-in after ACL surgery | OneFootball

Athletic midfielder Beñat Prados is available for the league run-in, seven months after surgery on his left anterior cruciate ligament. A place in the squad at Alavés on Saturday may still be a stretch.

As reported by as.com, the operation took place on 23 September. After recent gym top-ups he has been back working with the group and is in contention for Mendizorroza, above all for the last four league matches.

Even so, with the full squad currently fit, Ernesto Valverde may need to make up to four omissions for the Alavés trip. That makes an immediate call-up for Prados look premature.

Those cuts could even include Aymeric Laporte, who has hamstring discomfort and stayed on the bench at the Metropolitano last Saturday.

Seven months is on the short side for an injury of this magnitude, although Prados is notably athletic and courageous.

A key figure over the past two campaigns, his availability adds depth for the closing stretch without guaranteeing minutes.
