Borussia Mönchengladbach continued their preparations for the upcoming season with an 8-0 win over Oberliga side SSVg Velbert. Robin Hack and Florian Neuhaus scored half the goals, each scoring a brace.

Eugen Polański used different lineups for the two halves, with Neuhaus entering after Wael Mohya’s injury early in the second-half. "We're assuming it was just a blow to the thigh. The muscles are cramped up there." Polanski told Rheinischen Post (RP) after the game.

Bissau-Guinean striker Iaia Manco Danfa, Elias Vali Fard, Shuto Machino and Fritz Fleck scored the remaining goals as the second lineup found the net six times after the restart.

Gladbach will close their pre-season at Borussia-Park on Saturday with a game against Aston Villa. The Premier League side lost the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday after a 2-1 defeat to PSG in Salzburg.
