FC Bayern face a tough away game at Bayer Leverkusen, and this could be the start for both teams in the Bundesliga’s top match
FC Bayern face an away game at Bayer Leverkusen on matchday 26 of the Bundesliga. The league leaders visit the BayArena on Saturday (14 March, 3.30pm). Coach Vincent Kompany has to compensate for several absentees and could change his starting eleven compared to the Champions League game during the week
Sven Ulreich is likely to start in goal, as Manuel Neuer is still missing with a torn muscle fiber and Jonas Urbig is also out after suffering a concussion
Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Tom Bischof could start in the back four, with Alphonso Davies (hamstring strain) and Hiroki Ito (torn muscle fibre) unavailable
Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are likely to start in central midfield
In attack, there is much to be said for a back three of Michael Olise, Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry behind Harry Kane. The Englishman is likely to return to the starting eleven after his break, while Luis Diaz could be given a breather
Nevertheless, coach Vincent Kompany will be relying on stability in the top match against Leverkusen. Munich will be looking to confirm their strong form and take the next step towards the championship
FC Bayern: Ulreich – Laimer, Upamecano, M.-J. Kim, Bischof – Kimmich, Goretzka – Olise, Karl, Gnabry – Kane
Bayer Leverkusen: Blaswich – Quansah, Andrich, Tapsoba – Tape, Palacios, Aleix Garcia, Poku – Terrier, Maza – Kofane
Leverkusen are missing Arthur (syndesmosis tear), Badé (thigh muscle injury), Ben Seghir (ankle injury) and Grimaldo (5th yellow card), among others, so coach Kasper Hjulmand could once again opt for a back five.
