Premier League fans could see their television costs tumble if a Netflix-style single subscription, currently on trial overseas, reaches the UK.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, supporters now spend more than £1,115 a year on Sky, TNT, Amazon and a TV licence, while a Singapore pilot offers a 'Premflix' package at £286.29, implying an annual saving of £829.35 if mirrored here.

The report adds that a full bundle in the UK is £92.97 per month, and estimates current viewing works out at roughly £29 per match. A single service spread across a season would reduce the per game outlay sharply.

The at-home cost with all broadcasters is higher than the average season ticket at almost every Premier League club, with Arsenal the exception.

Speaking earlier this year, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said the league will, for the first time, go direct to consumers in Singapore from next season through Premier League +, rather than Premflix, working with existing rights holder StarHub under a six-year deal.

He described it as a considered move and said the league would handle promotion, pricing, churn and distribution, aiming to build a business and learn whether the model can be replicated globally. He added that taking control of content could open future options.
