Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has backed Leeds United’s £34million signing of Tarik Muharemovic, calling the centre-back a good fit for Daniel Farke’s physically focused side.
“He's a very good player,” he said. “He had a very good season in Sassuolo. There was a lot of interest about him from a lot of big names. He's a left-footed centre-back, a national team player, and Bosnia has played a good World Cup,” he told The Yorkshire Post.
“It will be a good profile for Leeds. He grew up in Austria so he speaks German and they [Leeds] have coaches from Germany. so I think he will adapt very well.”
Leeds confirmed the 23-year-old’s move from Sassuolo last week on a five-year contract at Elland Road. The fee is the club’s second-highest and addresses the gap left by outgoing Pascal Struijk.
Supporters might wait a little to see him, with the defender resuming his post-World Cup holiday after a brief Elland Road visit. He is likely to report midway through the US tour.
Leeds visit the MKM Stadium on December 30, with Hull at Elland Road on March 3.
Leeds can be certain of his fight, with the Bosnian admired by Sassuolo and his country for elite mentality and leadership.
