Wolves have edged clear of some of the Premier League’s bleakest points hauls after a festive revival, and with seven games left there are 21 points to chase further markers.

They began badly under Vitor Pereira, who was dismissed, and Rob Edwards initially endured the same struggles with the team rooted to the bottom. ExpressAndStar.com points out there was even concern they might not pass Derby County’s record low 11 from 2007/08.

That threshold has gone, as have Southampton’s 12 from last season and Sunderland’s 15 in 2005/06. They also sit above Sheffield United’s 16 of 2023/24 and Huddersfield Town’s 16 in 2018/19. They are now level with the tally Aston Villa recorded in 2017/18 when they were relegated.

Next in sight are 19, set by Sunderland in 2002/03, then 21 by Norwich City in 2019/20 and 22 by Norwich in 2021/22.

Sheffield United posted 23 in 2020/21. Watford finished on 24 in 1999/00 and Sunderland did the same in 2016/17.

Wolves collected 25 in 2011/12, a mark shared by QPR in 2012/13 and Southampton in 2022/23. Bradford City registered 26 in 2000/01.

Beyond that sit 28, by Leicester City in 2001/02 and Watford in 2006/07, and 30, by Cardiff City in 2013/14 and QPR in 2014/15.
