The Juventus Women’s First Team won the first-ever edition of the Serie A Women's Cup, beating Roma 3-2 in the final in a spectacular match won at the last gasp by the Bianconere.

Here are the words of the match winner, Lindsey Thomas, as well as those of a happy coach, Massimiliano Canzi.

"It was a brilliant and very complicated match, played by two great teams: it's a new competition and it's important for us to write the name ‘Juventus’ in first place. It's a source of pride. These girls never give up, it's in our DNA. We're proud of this attitude, today was a really great show. It was an open game, and we're enjoying this feeling. We were coming off the back of games where we hadn't performed at our best, and we're at a stage of the season where we're building our fitness for the coming months. We're changing our system of play compared to last season, which wasn't easy. I asked the girls to be more courageous, especially in defence, but against strong teams like Roma, it's never easy."

"The goal was to play the best game possible, but it's never easy against Roma: our journey in the competition hasn't been easy, and I'm happy that we've won another trophy thanks to a good team performance. This is yet more confirmation that it's never easy to play against us, we're always ready to give our all. After last season, there are high expectations, and it was important to send a signal right away. It was a wonderful final, we showed that every opponent will always have to contend with us until the final whistle.”
