Prestianni may miss Argentina with Guatemala friendly 'to proceed' in doubt | OneFootball

Gianluca Prestianni faces uncertainty over Argentina duty in the upcoming international window, with the 31 March friendly against Guatemala at risk due to non-compliance with FIFA rules.

Olé reports that the AFA asked FIFA for clearance and believed it would be granted, but that approval has not been confirmed. Nicolás Otamendi may also miss the match.

Under FIFA regulations, a national team cannot play on more than one continent within the same window. Guatemala are due to face Algeria in Italy on 27 March, so they could not then meet Argentina in Buenos Aires on 31 March.

It is another scheduling setback for the world champions. Argentina had planned a friendly with Qatar and the Finalissima against Spain, which might have been staged at Estádio da Luz. Both were to be in Doha, but the conflict in the Middle East forced changes.

For Benfica this season, Prestianni, valued at 12 million euros, has made 33 appearances, 21 in Liga Portugal Betclic, five in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 1,611 minutes, he has two goals and two assists.
