Liverpool host Manchester United on Sunday afternoon [16:30 BST], as both Arne Slot and Ruben Amorim look to secure much-needed wins.

Amorim’s position has come under pressure after Manchester United’s worst start to a Premier League campaign, but he continues to have the backing of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

So far this season, Manchester United have struggled with consistency – winning three, drawing one and losing three, most recently against Brentford and Manchester City.

The Red Devils return from the international break on the back of a 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford which saw Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens make his Premier league debut.

United remain winless in their last eight away Premier League games, drawing two and losing six since beating Leicester City 3-0 in March.

They haven’t beaten Liverpool at Anfield for eight years, with their last victory coming under Louis van Gaal in January 2016 – a 1-0 win for United.

Both sides have met 192 times in all competitions, with Manchester United winning 73 of those meetings compared to Liverpool’s 65.

Meanwhile, Liverpool return from the international break on the back of three consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Arne Slot’s side conceded late goals against both Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the Premier League, either side of a 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Liverpool have only lost one of their last 14 Premier League matches against Manchester United – winning seven and drawing six. Their last defeat against their rivals at came in a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford in August 2022.

Manchester United could climb into the top half with a win at Anfield, while Liverpool will be eager to maintain pressure on Arsenal, who stayed top of the table after a 1-0 victory over Fulham.

Liverpool will be without with Alisson Becker for their clash against United, who themselves will be without Lisandro Martínez, Noussair Mazraoui and Ayden Heaven.

The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event at 16:30 [BST].
