PREVIEW: QPR host Hodgson’s Robins in mid-table clash | OneFootball

Roy Hodgson’s Bristol City will hit the road once again tomorrow afternoon, as they travel to Loftus Road to face Queens Park Rangers.

This looks to be a pretty “dead rubber” game in England’s second tier, with Bristol City currently sat 11th, whilst QPR occupy 12th place. Both sides are mathematically safe and also nine points outside of the play-off spots, with just 15 left to play for this season. The Robins were the only team in the Championship to take all six points available to them over Easter weekend, with the perfect start to Hodgson’s interim stint seeing his side defeat Charlton Athletic and Sheffield United.

QPR ran out 2-1 winners at Ashton Gate in the reverse fixture back in October, coming back from a goal down to take three points back to West London. Bristol City’s last win over the Hoops came back on the final day of the 2022/23 season, when they picked up a 2-0 win at Loftus Road thanks to goals from Mark Sykes and Sam Bell in aequally “dead rubber” clash.

Tomorrow will mark the 103rd meeting between the sides, so far 35 have gone the way of the Robins, whilst QPR have come out with 39 wins and 28 games have ended in a draw. The first meeting came back in the 1914 FA Cup First Round, when the sides played out a 2-2 draw before QPR won the replay 2-0 four days later.

Hodgson revealed in his pre-match press conference that former Hoops defender, Rob Dickie, looks as though he could be back in contention for Saturday’s game following a spell on the sidelines, however the former England boss did add that he’ll have to be careful reintergrating Dickie due to the length of the injury.

The match will take place on Saturday April 11th, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30pm (UK time.)
