Glasgow Rangers will play their first of five post-split games tomorrow afternoon, when they welcome Motherwell to Ibrox.

This will be club captain James Tavernier’s penultimate game at Rangers’ home ground, with the skipper announcing his exit from the club earlier this week. Rangers fans will be hoping the club can deliver their captain the perfect send-off over these final games and lift a record-breaking 56th league title.

The Bears currently sit in second, one point behind league leaders Hearts and two points ahead of Old Firm rivals Celtic. Motherwell, meanwhile, find themselves fourth with recent form seeing them fall away from the title race picture that they had briefly inserted themselves into just a few months ago. In fact, Motherwell have lost four of their last five matches, dating back to a 2-0 win at home to Dundee United on February 28th.

They do, however, boast the league’s top scorer, Tawanda Maswanhise, who has 17 goals to his name so far this term. However, he has only found the net once in his last five games and is yet to score against Rangers this season. Tomorrow will mark the fourth meeting between these sides this season, the two matches at Fir Park finished in 1-1 draws, whilst Rangers picked up a 1-0 win at Ibrox thanks to a second-half winner from Thelo Aasgaard. Motherwell haven’t beaten Rangers in over two years, that being a 2-1 win in March 2024.

Rangers manager Danny Röhl has assured fans his players won’t need a reminder of what’s at stake in these five games. “I don’t think anyone needs any more motivation heading into these last games. We have one way, one dream, and that’s all we think about, just focusing on ourselves, playing our best football and taking it game by game.”

The match will take place on Sunday, April 26th at 3pm (UK time).
