Spain face Uruguay in their final group match at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico knowing a win would secure top spot in Group H.

La Roja are top of Group H after opening their campaign with a goalless draw against Cape Verde before securing a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in their second group-stage fixture.

Both Spain and Uruguay head into the clash knowing victory could secure their place in the Round 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Should Spain beat Uruguay and finish top of Group H, they would face the runners up of Group J which would either be Austria or Algeria on Thursday, July 2 in Los Angeles.

The runners-up of Group H would face the winners of Group J, currently Argentina on Friday, July 3 in Miami.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup champions have won three matches across the 2014, 2018 and 2022 tournaments.

Their best performances during that period came in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, where they reached the Round of 16 on both occasions.

Spain have faced Uruguay on five occasions since 1950, winning three matches and drawing the other two, both of which came during the group stages of the 1950 and 1990 World Cups.

Meanwhile, Uruguay enter the clash on the back of a 1–1 draw against Saudi Arabia and a 2–2 draw with World Cup debutants Cape Verde.

The Sky Blues currently sit second in Group H, level on points with third-placed Cape Verde heading into the final round of group-stage fixtures.

They can only finish as winners of Group H if they beat Spain and Cape Verde lose against Saudi Arabia.

Uruguay famously lifted the World Cup trophy in 1930 and 1950. Since then, their best performance came in 2010 when they finished fourth, before being suffering a group-stage exit in Qatar 2022.

Uruguay are unbeaten in their last seven matches across all competitions, recording six draws and one victory.

Marcos Llorente returns to the XI for Spain, with Mikel Merino coming into midfield to replace Dani Olmo.

Uruguay are without Ronald Araújo and Giorgian de Arrascaeta who are both ruled out of action due to calf injuries. Darwin Núñez has come into the starting lineup replacing Federico Viñas.

The match will be live on ITV 1 in the UK, Fox Sports in the US and SBS in Australia. The match will kick off at 01:00 (BST) in the UK.
