Swansea City host Manchester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup tomorrow evening as they aim to test themselves against the Premier League giants.
The Swans are searching for back-to-back victories after a 2–1 win over Norwich City in the Championship. They sit 13th in the table with 16 points and have reached this stage of the competition by overcoming Crawley Town, Plymouth Argyle and Nottingham Forest.
The Welsh side last won the League Cup in 2013, beating Bradford City 5–0 in the Wembley final. Alan Sheehan’s side will be without Ricardo Santos, with the defender still recovering from a long-term knee injury.
Manchester City arrive in South Wales looking to avoid a shock exit similar to the one suffered by rivals Manchester United earlier in the competition. Pep Guardiola’s side remains among the favourites to lift the trophy once again as they continue their pursuit of silverware.
City travel to the Swansea.com Stadium after a narrow 1–0 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday. They are fifth in the Premier League with 16 points, six behind leaders Arsenal, and beat Huddersfield Town 2–0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
The Citizens have won this competition eight times, most recently in 2021 when Aymeric Laporte scored the decisive goal in a 1–0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
City have a dominant record in this fixture, winning 26 of the last 37 meetings in all competitions. They are unbeaten against Welsh opposition since March 2012 and last faced Swansea in the Carabao Cup third round in 2016, winning 2–1.
The match will be broadcast live on the Sky Sports+ app in the UK, with a kick-off time of 19:45 [GMT].
