Wales host Belgium in a crucial World Cup qualifying match at the Cardiff City Stadium tomorrow evening.
Craig Bellamy’s side head into the clash on the back of a 3-0 defeat against rivals England on Thursday.
Finishing in top spot and automatic qualification for the World Cup is in no less likely for Wales than for their opponents Belgium, who drew with first-place North Macedonia on Friday.
The Red Devils may have slipped into second, but both them and North Macedonia are unbeaten so far.
The Dragons head into tomorrow’s match in third place, and a win against Belgium will see them a step closer to making history by qualifying for back-to-back World Cups.
If Wales were to win against Belgium at the Cardiff City Stadium, they would still need Belgium to drop points in their remaining two matches to stay in the running for top spot.
Bellamy avoided defeat in his first nine games since taking over from Rob Page in July 2024 and has only been beaten in three out his last four matches.
Wales are unbeaten at the Cardiff City Stadium with their last home defeat coming against Armenia in June 2023.
Belgium last visited the Cardiff City Stadium in the UEFA Nations League in June 2022, where the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Wales have won five matches against Belgium in their head-to-head history at the Cardiff City Stadium and will be hoping to add to that tally tomorrow evening.
Kevin De Bruyne’s goals in two minutes gave Belgium a 4-3 win in a thrilling encounter in the reverse fixture.
Wales will need to come out firing and discover their best form having lost both of their last two fixtures, in the form of friendly defeats to Canada and England.
Both Wales and Belgium have a game in hand over North Macedonia who currently have 12 points from six games.
If Wales were to finish second, they will enter the play-offs in March to fight for a place at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The match against Belgium will be shown live on the BBC with kick off at 7:45pm. The referee for the match will be Daniel Siebert with Pascal Müller as VAR.
