Racing and Deportivo have earned automatic promotion from Segunda. The final place in Primera División will be decided by a play-off featuring the teams that finish third to sixth.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the semi-finals are Castellón v Almería and Las Palmas v Málaga, played over two legs, with the final scheduled for 14 and 20 June.

In every tie the second leg is staged at the home of the side that finished higher during the regular season.

The pairings set third against sixth and fourth against fifth. The two winners progress to the final for promotion.

There is no away-goals rule and no penalty shootouts. If the aggregate score is level after the two matches, extra time is played. If it remains level after 30 minutes, the team that ended the league campaign higher goes through.
