It was recently confirmed that Borussia Dortmund has secured the services of 21-year-old Englishman Carnay Chukwuemeka from Chelsea on a loan that will last until the end of the season. If he impresses, the move could be made permanent in the summer for 35 million euros.
Chukwuemeka was born in Austria but has represented England at the national level for the U17, U18, U19, and U20s. A product of both Northampton Town and Aston Villa youth academies, his senior debut came for Aston Villa at the tail end of the 2020-2021 season with a pair of appearances. His first few minutes were followed up by twelve more appearances the following season before securing a move to Chelsea.
In Chukwuemeka’s first two seasons at Chelsea, Chukwuemeka scored twice and assisted once in 26 appearances. This season, he’s been used as a sporadic substitute in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League and domestic cup competitions but has yet to find any Premier League minutes, failing to be included in the matchday squad on most occasions. Still, he is a player hungry to leave his mark in Dortmund.
