Promising Barcelona goalkeeper set for loan move to Denmark | OneFootball

Currently, FC Barcelona are working on completing several departures of players who are not in the plans of the coach Hansi Flick going into the next season. In this regard, the most high-profile cases are those involving the midfielder Marc Casado and the goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

However, the experienced German is not the only goalkeeper with whom the Catalans want to part ways this summer. In addition to him, they were also looking for a new club for Inaki Pena, who has reportedly already finalized his move to the Greek side Panathiaikos.

Meanwhile, yet another goalkeeper whom the Blaugranes want to move on is the youngster Diego Kochen. Seemingly, Barcelona have already found a new destination for him as well, as Mundo Deportivo reports that they are already in advanced negotiations with the Danish side FC Copenhagen for Kochen’s loan transfer.

This loan would be for a single year, but the Danes would have the option to buy him permanently for €1.5 million at end of this period. Furthermore, the Catalans would also likely get to keep the right to get a significant portion of any future transfer fee paid for him, if this option is exercised.

The American goalkeeper is set to get the greenlight from Barcelona to travel to the Scandinavian country this week to finalize this move, with the aim of being able to start the preseason training with his new team on Wednesday.

Diego Kochen has been training with the Barcelona first team for several years now. He got his first call-up when Xavi Hernandez was in charge of the team, during the 2023-24 season, and continued to be the third-choice goalkeeper of the first team even after the arrival of Hansi Flick.

However, he never got the chance to play in an official match with the first team, and played only in a friendly against Club America back in 2023. Now, with this loan, Diego Kochen would hopefully get to play more minutes on the pitch, and continue growing as a professional goalkeeper.
