Football and politics will share the next two Sundays as Ligue 1 works around municipal elections. According to L'Équipe, clubs are mixing fixture tweaks, proxy voting and light-touch guidance.

On authorities’ advice, the LFP moved Marseille v Lille on 22 March to 17:15 instead of 21:00 after concerns about post-results unrest. Lille president Olivier Létang has sought a postponement and arranged a proxy as he will be away.

Only Lille are away on both Sundays, at Rennes on 15 March then at Marseille on 22, linked to Thursday Europa League ties with Aston Villa. The club expects individuals to sort voting, while 10 other sides are not away and Monaco’s system is separate.

Some clubs had not raised proxies, while Toulouse’s team manager sent a WhatsApp reminder about registering without trying to convince anyone. Few follow-up questions suggested limited interest in dressing rooms.

Lille runs civic education modules for academy players, mirroring the lycée curriculum. UNECATEF vice-president Jacky Bonnevay and Nantes executive Charles Diers say employers should not influence votes, though encouraging participation and proxy awareness is fair.

Fans face dilemmas too, with Lyon at Le Havre and Toulouse at Metz, both 17:15 kick-offs. TFC supporter Cédric, 26, forgot a proxy, while Luc, 32, a season-ticket holder since 2004, arranged one, and Vikash Dhorasoo says fixtures will not shift to let players vote.
