Bayern made a dream start to the game as they took the lead inside three minutes. Serge Gnabry puts Michael Olise on through, but Chevalier saved his effort from close range. On the rebound, Luis Diaz scored for the visitors.

Bayern dominated the midfield and won the second ball to create pressure. Alexander Pavlovic tried an ambitious effort from long distance, but it took a deflection and went wide.

Ousmane Dembele scored for PSG with his chest, but the goal was ruled offside after a VAR check. Gnabry came close to scoring for Bayern after a slick interchange of passing involving Diaz and Harry Kane. However, the ball hit the post and moved the other way.

Bayern, now in full control, got the second goal through Diaz. The Colombian snatched the ball from Marquinhos and finished brilliantly.

Another huge chance from Bayern fell in the 38th minute, and they should be out of sight by now. Joshua Kimmich laid the ball across the goal, and Pavlovic opted to leave it for Gnabry; however, the German was not expecting the ball to be there.

Towards the end of the half, Diaz made a reckless challenge on Hakimi from behind, and after a thorough VAR check, he was given the marching orders.

Bayern still created one more opportunity before the end of the half, with Harry Kane hitting straight at the goalkeeper.

PSG enjoyed more possession after the break as they looked to find an equaliser, but Bayern’s defence stayed resolute.

Olise carried the ball all the way into the opposition box from the half line, but ran out of steam, as he lacked the power and accuracy to aim at goal.

Manuel Neuer made a cracking save to deny Vitinha from distance. On the rebound, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could not keep it on target.

Bayern still continued to create chances and this time Olise had a crack at goal, but the effort was really tame.

In the 74th minute, Paris Saint-Germain pulled one back. Joao Neves met a cross with a bicycle kick from five yards to reduce the deficit.

With a man advantage, PSG produced a barrage of attacks, with Vitinha testing Neuer from distance. The Bayern goalie again made a terrific save from close range to deny Warren Zaïre-Emery.

Laimer made a goalline clearance in the stoppage time as Bayern kept out PSG’s threats at bay.

Here at CF Bayern Insider, we have rated the players out of 10.

Manuel Neuer (9) – For the first time this season, Neuer was required to save Bayern from danger, and he did in some style. That 2nd half performance was simply sensational. He proves again that age is just a number.

Konrad Laimer (8) – What an absolute hero! Made a last ditch clearance deep in stoppage time to ensure Bayern come up with full points.

Dayot Upamecano (9) – The Frenchman sent a timely reminder to Bayern chiefs that he deserves a new contract. He made six clearances and was a rock at the back.

Jonathan Tah (9) – He has proved to be one hell of a signing. Tah has been the pillar of strength at the back, and tonight he was oustatnding.

Josip Stanisic (7) – Another solid effort from the left-back, who made seome key tackles in the second half and kept PSG wingers in check.

Joshua Kimmich (7) – Kimmich was so unlucky not to have got a goal to his name, but his tireless runs throughout the game shows what an asset he is for Bayern.

Alexander Pavlovic (6) – Tried an audacious long-range effort in the first half. Relatively quiet in the second as Bayern did not enjoy much possession.

Luis Diaz (7) – The perfect example of Angel and Demon. The Colombian was untouchable in the first half, scoring two goals, but an instinctive rash challenge saw him pick up a red card that brought PSG into the game.

Michael Olise (6) – There were flashes of brilliance from the French winger, but he probably could have done better in key areas.

Serge Gnabry (7) –  The German star was superb in the first half, and was heavily involved in the first goal. However, he was taken off following Diaz’s red card for tactical reasons. Does he deserve a new contract?

Harry Kane (7) – It was a different type of performance from him. He worked his socks off in the second half and defended extraordinarily well to keep Bayern in the game.
