Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly targeting West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
Foot Mercato claims PSG have contacted Fernandes’ representatives over a possible deal. Sporting director Luis Campos is pushing to sign him.
Campos has a history of signing Portuguese players, having previously recruited Vitinha, Goncalo Ramos, Joao Neves and Nuno Mendes.
Manchester United and Manchester City are also considering a move for Fernandes.
Fernandes joined West Ham from Southampton last summer and has been a first-team regular.
The 23-year-old has impressed despite West Ham’s struggles. He has chipped in with five goals and four assists across all competitions.
Fernandes ranks first in the squad for accurate passes and third for key passes per game. He is industrious without possession, placing first for tackles and fourth for interceptions per game.
He has also demonstrated his versatility, playing across the midfield and the forward line.
Fernandes is under contract until 2030 and would command a significant fee. West Ham could be forced to sell him if they are relegated.
He would be a good fit for PSG, but it is unclear whether they are ready to push for him.
Their lack of midfield depth was laid bare in the 2-1 home loss to Lyon on Sunday. They played defender Lucas Beraldo and forward Senny Mayulu as midfielders.
They need to sign another central midfielder this summer, which explains their interest in Fernandes
